Cleaning up marker marks on the floor or wall
It’s perfectly possible to remove an indelible marker stain from the floor or wall, just as you would from a whiteboard. The most effective products for removing stains are often already in our cupboards, such as white vinegar, lemon, hair spray or 90° alcohol. In the event of an accident, spray stain removers are also highly effective against felt-tip or permanent marker stains.
For stains on carpets or rugs, we recommend the use of special carpet stain remover powder. White spirit can also work wonders on felt-tip or marker stains. In this case, simply soak a clean cloth and pat the stain until it has completely disappeared, not forgetting to rinse thoroughly.

Removing marker stains from textiles

In this case, simply soak in bleach to remove permanent marker stains and revive the white. For colored garments, you can try removing marker stains with lemon juice before machine washing.
As for household and bed linen, there are a number of tricks that also work well. These include 90° alcohol or acetone, which effectively dilute the ink left by permanent markers.
It’s even possible to erase marker or felt-tip pens from certain delicate textiles, such as satin. In this case, you can make a stain-removing paste from a mixture of borax, lemon juice, vinegar and milk. Leave the paste on for around ten minutes before rinsing the garment thoroughly. A grandmother’s recipe that works well. To avoid creasing the fiber, you can dry it with a terry towel.
Important: to avoid damaging your clothes, never rub the marker or felt-tip stain with an abrasive sponge, as this will weaken the fibers and damage your belongings.
Removing marker stains from wood
Removing an indelible felt-tip or marker stain from wood is a tricky business, and can often damage the surface concerned. To begin with, it’s important to determine whether the wood is untreated or treated, in order to determine how to proceed. In both cases, it is advisable to carry out a test on an inconspicuous part of the furniture.
In the case of untreated wood, you can remove the stain by soaking a cotton ball in 90° alcohol and rubbing it until it disappears. If a trace remains, we recommend using very fine-grained sandpaper to remove it. Then polish and apply an oil or tinting product to restore the surface to its original appearance.

Simply rub the stain with toothpaste until the ink has completely disappeared. This operation can be repeated several times on particularly stubborn stains. If the stain is particularly stubborn, a combination of toothpaste and baking soda can be used to obtain an abrasive, cleaning effect.
Removing marker stains from fabric furniture

As not all fabrics are of the same type, color or strength, it’s essential to carry out a test on an inconspicuous area before proceeding to remove the marker or pen stain.
The best tip for removing a permanent felt-tip stain from a sofa or armchair, for example, is to use a mixture of lemon juice and warm milk. If the stain is fresh, a simple mixture of soapy water may even do the trick. These tips work particularly well on fabrics made from natural fibers.
For synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, it’s best to try and remove the stain with slightly diluted household spirit vinegar.
Finally, for leather furniture, the trick is even different. In the latter case, we recommend using hairspray on a clean cloth and rubbing the stain in a circular motion.
Important: to avoid damaging the appearance of the fabric backing, it’s important never to over-rub stains. Proceed with care and delicacy to avoid creating a bigger problem than the one initially treated.
Removing marker stains from non-porous surfaces
Occasionally, we accidentally make stains on various surfaces. When this happens, various products can be used to dilute and remove the marks.
